Fireflies.ai review: is the free plan enough, or do you need Pro?

Fireflies' Free, Pro and Business plans compared, including the auto-join trick for unlimited free transcripts.

Where we haven't tested something, we say so. Content is AI-assisted and researched from official sources; no hands-on testing. Fireflies is an AI meeting notetaker that joins Zoom, Google Meet and Teams calls, transcribes them, and summarizes them. The key question is whether the free plan covers you.

Plans (from Fireflies' own help center)

PlanPrice per seatKey limits
Free$0400 min storage, 20 AI credits/month, 2-hour recording limit; transcript downloads need a paid plan
Pro$10/mo annual · $18 monthly8,000 min storage/seat, video recording, 2-hour limit
Business$19/mo annual · $29 monthlyUnlimited storage, conversation intelligence, 3-hour limit
Enterprise$39/mo (annual only)4-hour limit, dedicated account manager

The free-plan detail most reviews miss

According to Fireflies' knowledge base, Free users who turn Auto-join on get unlimited transcriptions. With it off, they're capped at 3. AI summaries and action items still use your 20 monthly AI credits. These limits apply to accounts created on or after Sept 1, 2026.

Verdict: If you mainly need raw transcripts, the free plan with Auto-join may be enough. Pay for Pro when you need downloads, video, or more storage. Business is for teams that want analytics.
